Mount Carmel Church in Bidwell, Ohio, and under the direction of Pastor Gene Armstrong, will hold an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 28, from 6 to 8 pm. Superintendent Jude Meyers will speak first about the state of the Gallia County Local School District and, if time permits, allow an open question and answer period.
At seven o’clock, the five candidates for the school board will answer five prepared questions. After responding to those questions, if time permits, those in attendance may ask questions of the candidates. The candidates are incumbents Terry Halley and Billy Swain. The remaining candidates are Brent Schultz, Beth James, and John Davis.
Mount Carmel has encouraged a long supportive relationship with its neighbor River Valley High School. Students have composed questions for the candidates and the superintendent. The advanced placement classes are using this as an opportunity to see firsthand local politics at work.
Refreshments are offered by the church to those in attendance. Seating is limited so the seating will be on a first come, first served basis.
