SGHS Competes at State Beta Convention SGHS Competes at State Beta Convention

Congratulations to all of the students who competed and won at the state level at the 2022 Ohio State Beta Convention:

1. Trey Johnson: second place on Social Studies Academic Exam

2. Ellen Weaver: third place on English Academic Exam

3. Lilly Clagg: third place on Math Academic Exam 

4. Leah Skidmore: Golden Ticket (was invited to nationals to sing)

5. Reegan Brown: first place in Recycled art and third place in woodworking 

6. The SGHS Service-Learning Showcase received second place: Created by Lilly Clagg and Summer Spurlock

7. SGHS received second place for the portfolio constructed by:  Ella Nida, Abbey Land, Tori Triplett, Leah Skidmore, Macie Sanders, and Jena Watson

8. Mollee Maynard: third place for Drawing

Recently, students from the SGMS Beta Club competed and placed in their events at the Ohio State Beta Convention and have qualified to compete at Nationals in Nashville, TN in June.

SGMS took 22 students to the State Convention and brought home 16 plaques.  Bayleigh Waterhouse concluded her term as State Secretary of the Jr. Beta Club and gave various speeches throughout the day during the general sessions. Olivia Clary and Shayden Hammond sang The National Anthem on stage during the opening ceremony.  Congratulations to all who competed!!

SGMS Spelling Bee 2022 SGMS Spelling Bee 2022

South Gallia Middle School participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee and awarded our winners on February 9, 2022:

Congratulations to Miss Shayden Hammond for being our 2022 Middle School Champion and Bradley Hayman for earning the 2022 Middle School Runner-Up.  A total of 10 students earned the right to compete and move on from their Classroom Spelling Bee (classroom champions and distinguished spellers).  Thank you to all who competed!

South Gallia Wins Award South Gallia Wins Award

South Gallia was recently recognized for the 2021 Beautification Award by the Gallia Chamber of Commerce. Over the last year, South Gallia has upgraded various visual and physical aspects in and around the building such as new landscaping, paving, window graphics, new banners inside and outside of the school, as well as a new entrance sign. Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for recognizing South Gallia!

South Gallia BPA Successful at Competiton South Gallia BPA Successful at Competiton

Recently, South Gallia HS Business Professionals of America students competed in the local competition with several earning the right to move on to the state level. They are as follows:

-4th place out of 15 for Fundamental Web Design: Brayden Hammond

-3rd place out of 15 for Digital Media Productions: Charles Staggs.

-4th place out of 15 for Graphic Design Promotion: Ryan Walters

-3rd place in Graphic Design Promotion, and will compete at the State Level: Braxton Graves

-The first time ever for South Gallia in Advanced Word Processing, Reece Butler received 1st place out of 23 and will compete at the State Level.

-In Second Place for Device Configuration and Troubleshooting, Chase Brannen, will compete at the State Level.

Another first time ever for South Gallia in the Broadcast Production team, receiving 1st place and will be competing at the State level, is Hannah Thivener, Chase Brannen, Braiden Shaw, and William Deweese.

Congratulations to all of you who competed and we wish you the best of luck in March at BPA State Leadership Conference.

She is always looking to provide a fun activity through Project Positivity and the high school cheerleading squad for the entire school. She worked tirelessly with the athletic boosters to ensure that the fall sports banquet was one of the best ever. Thank you Miss Miller for taking care of our students and Rowing The Boat!!

South Gallia Middle/High CHOICES/STEPS students participated in the annual pumpkin carving activity on Thursday, October 21, 2021.  Students had a great time carving their pumpkins to take home for their families to enjoy!  Thank you to the Gallia-Vinton ESC and the afterschool staff for providing an awesome experience for our students!

South Gallia would like to recognize Kaitlyn Walters for being a leader by Rowing The Boat. Mrs. Amber Caudill, South Gallia Art Teacher, says of Kaitlyn: "She is always polite and kind to me and others. She is already very artistically talented, but also willing to learn new things. She helps her classmates when they need it and I am working with other students. She puts my chairs up at the end of the day every day on her own because she wants to help me. She is an exemplary student and human being.
