Welcome to Gallia County Local Schools

Dear Gallia County Local Schools Families and Staff,

Over the past six months, our world has been turned upside down by numerous issues that have the potential of changing education forever. Our staff has worked tirelessly to shift from what we have known and what we have practiced our entire careers to doing something that is brand new for all of us. We are forever grateful for the patience and understanding that has been demonstrated by our staff, parents, and community.

The beginning of the 2020-21 school year is upon us and it will be the most different opening that any of us has ever experienced. First and foremost, we will be starting the school year where the COVID-19 pandemic is still present. This has required training for our staff, upgrades in infrastructure, new cleaning and safety protocols, and numerous other factors that will impact our success. It also requires our families to make adjustments that are difficult, challenging, and, in some ways, seemingly impossible.

The start of the school year is typically a very exciting time for all of our families and staff. Unfortunately we will not be able to experience that ‘normal’ opening this year due to the pandemic and I know that saddens all of us here at Gallia County Local Schools.

While we will be preparing to open the school as a traditional 5 day week, we are also preparing to continue to prepare in the case we have to go to a remote or a completely off campus plan during the course of this school year. We do care deeply about our students and staff and we want each of them to feel that sense of belongingness in our schools and that they are connected to a group of individuals who care deeply about them and their growth as human beings. That is why we have been working with our staff, neighboring districts, and our local and state health officials to make sure we have a safe and flexible plan

I know as a district we value each of you even though we may not always agree on everything. Just understand we want to make the best decisions for the benefit of students. We greatly appreciate your patience as we start the school year and we look forward to a successful beginning…no matter what it looks like. This will be challenging year and it will push us, but, like everything, we can accomplish anything…together.

I wish you all a wonderful school year. We excitedly anticipate our opening day on August 31, 2020. I have attached a few links that will communicate district plans as we move forward. I thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.

Best wishes,

Gallia County Reopening Plan:
